One serial data source. Two operational destinations.
The ACTERA SSP-8RJ is a compact DIN-rail serial splitter designed to distribute RS-232 communication through three shielded RJ45 connectors. It provides a practical integration path where data from one serial field device must be available to two host systems, or where one host must communicate with two terminal devices in a suitable serial topology.

Many established SCADA and industrial systems depend on field devices equipped with a single RS-232 interface.
The SSP-8RJ allows one data-acquisition device or field interface to be connected to two host computers. Both hosts can receive data from the connected device, while only one host may transmit at a time.
The splitter can also be used in a one-host-to-two-device arrangement where the connected equipment, serial protocol and cable topology permit that mode of operation.
No software driver is required.
Critical Interface Notice
The RJ45 connectors carry RS-232 signals. They are not Ethernet ports. Only cables manufactured according to the ACTERA SSP-8RJ pin assignment should be used.
Three Shielded Serial Connections
Three female shielded RJ45 connectors carry RS-232 signals.
Eight RS-232 Signal Lines
The interface supports CTS, DSR, GND, RxD, TxD, DCD, DTR and RTS.
Flexible Port Assignment
Each port can be used in a DTE or DCE role according to the cable and connected-device configuration.
Driver-Free Operation
The SSP-8RJ operates at the physical serial-connection level and requires no software driver.
DIN-Rail Installation
The compact housing is designed for installation inside control panels and communications cabinets.
Custom 19-Inch Assemblies
Multiple SSP-8RJ modules can be integrated into tailored 19-inch SCADA assemblies for projects requiring repeated RTU-to-multiple-host connectivity.
Use the serial interface already in the field - where more than one system needs the data.
ACTERA can review the connected equipment, cable pinout, DTE/DCE arrangement and permitted transmission topology before deployment.
